JULIE CHAPMAN—CEO
Julie has been a member of the North Burnett Community for 29 years and is involved in a variety of sectors throughout the community, including industry, retail services, and farming sectors, through her various business activities and ventures. As such, she has formed a strong business network throughout the state and the region.
Through her business activities, she works collaboratively on a regular basis with other businesses for the daily functioning and success of the company. Julie is an experienced business manager with a consistent track record of successfully employing best business practices to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs while increasing productivity, all to a tight time scale and within budget.
She has been with the company since its inception in 1995. Her role is to oversee the financial and business management operations of the company. She has over 40 years of experience in business and management. Qualifying with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Queensland as well as completing her Master of Commerce at Charles Sturt University.
In addition to her role in the company, Julie is a Justice of the Peace, having served the community for 40 years in this role as well as serving 3 years on the Business Advisory Committee for the North Burnett Regional Council.
GLEN CHAPMAN—Production Manager
Since establishing the company in 1995, Glen has played a pivotal role in the company’s operations. He holds several trade qualifications, including Fitter, Turner & Machinist; Diesel Fitter; Boilermaker; & Sheetmetal Worker. Glen has backed this up with advanced trade studies as well as a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
With 45 years of experience in the industry, Glen is well-positioned to ensure that the BigEng name remains synonymous with quality and adaptability and that both clients and staff continue to thrive and grow. Glen plays an important role in overseeing and managing the company’s production process and is always available to share his extensive knowledge to answer your technical queries.
Glen continually gives of his time and knowledge to the local community, and the company sponsors an Engineering Trade Awards through the local high school. In addition to this, he has also taken on a mentoring role for the Biggenden State School for the establishment and running of the Trade Training and Hospitality Centre which opened in 2013.
RUSSELL BANKS — Fitting Machine Section
Russell has been with the company for 17 years having started as an Apprentice Fitter – Machinist. Russell oversees the company’s production processes and is responsible for the day-to-day running of the business and is always available to share his knowledge and to answer your queries.
Russell holds several trade qualifications as Fitter/Machinist; Boilermaker and is currently completing his trade qualification as a Sheetmetal Worker. He is a qualified draftsman holding Certifications for Solidworks 3D Drafting and is also responsible for managing the company’s Drafting Department. Russell is also an Approved Person for the certification of Heavy Vehicle Modifications.
Russell has been involved with the North Burnett and Fraser Coast Communities for many years and is involved in a variety of sectors, including industry, retail services, and farming sectors, through his various business activities and ventures and has formed strong business networks throughout the region. Russell and his partner established a Not-For-Profit Organisation “Red Collar Rescue” in 2009 with the primary aim of providing temporary refuge and eventually new homes for abandoned, abused, unwanted and death row dogs.
JAMES CROSS – Fabrication Section
James has been part of the company for over 20 years. He has also completed several trade qualifications in Boilermaking; Diesel Fitting; and currently completing his trade qualification as a Sheetmetal Worker to expand on his portfolio. James has built up an extensive knowledge over his many years in the industry and is always available to assist with solutions to problems and queries from our clientele.
James has a background in the Timber Industry as well as the Cattle Industry and comes from a farming background. He initially completed a Diploma in Agriculture upon leaving school and then expanded his experience into the Engineering Manufacturing Industry when he was recruited by the company 20 years ago. James’s background ensures that he has a thorough understanding of the issues faced by clients in the Agricultural and Transport Sectors and he is able to utilize this knowledge when providing solutions for the company’s clientele.
